Materials
and Manufacturing quality
Our windows come with a 10 year warranty against manufacturing defect.
(wear and tear of hardware components caused by
exceptional use is covered by a 2 year warranty).
According to the Building Regulations 1991 Approved Document B, section 2, 2000 edition, escape windows should have an unobstructed openable area of 0.33m2, with a height and width minimum of 450mm. The opening may be angled. In addition, the bottom of the window opening must not be more than 1100mm above the floor.
Standard module side hung casement windows comply when fitted with egress hinges. Narrow module casement windows can be made with floating mullions.
Since April 2002, Part L of the Building Regulations (Part J in Scotland) require that windows fitted into new housing achieve a U value of 2.0W/m2K.
The window systems we use (Sheerframe 6000) have been tested by the National Physical Laboratory, achieving 1.74W/m2K, so easily surpassing the requirements of part L. (These tests were carried out in conjunction with Pilkington UK Ltd. using Pilkington Insulight™ Therm 24mm glazing which incorporates Pilkington "K" Glass™)
